From 1970 to the early 80s Menlo Macfarlane has been a modern dancer, choreographer and composer working out of New York City and Vancouver, British Columbia, and touring internationally with Nikolais Louis Dance Theater Lab, collaborations with Nan June Paik, John Cage and Merce Cunningham, Ed Emshwiller and more. He was Director/Choreographer for Terminal City (Modern Dance), Vancouver BC. From1980 to 1990, he was Director of the Performance Art Department at the Museum of Ancient and Modern Art in Northern California. From 1980 to present he has worked as a visual artist, a painter, sculptor, and teacher and workshop facilitator. He teaches in Europe, Canada, South America, and the United States in workshops in ancient and modern dance, visual arts, printmaking, and mask making.
